I went downstream from Peacock Bridge to photograph the Welted Thistles.  It was fairly late afternoon and I had been there only a few minutes when the mayflies started settling in the plants lining the river bank.  I took photographs until it was too dark to do so anymore.  I couldn't believe my luck as they so rarely stop flying.  After all they have so little time to do what they have to do.  The mayfly on the stone on the fishing page had been splashed by my dog leaping about in the water so I got a few shots on another day as well.  He flew off eventually quite ok
