The spinney across the farm track has a long history associated with it. Certainly the Romans were here building a dam to supply water to Dorchester.  There is a clear track through it which leads on the 13th Century Priory which history tells us was in Frampton Park and was probably used to communicate with Abbotsbury.  It certainly housed American troops prior to embarking for France. When I lived in the cottages close by some 25 years ago, the iron hoops which held up the corregated sheets of their  accommodation were still there in the spinney.  They possibly still are there, rusting away in the undergrowth.  Nowadays all I could find was some ancient farm machinery also rusting away
